Location: Remote

Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $130,000 - $170,000 + 10% bonus

Overview

Seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a high-impact development team responsible for delivering modern, scalable software solutions. This role blends hands-on technical leadership with people management, guiding engineers through the full product lifecycle while contributing directly to code delivery. The ideal candidate brings strong experience with cloud-based architectures, modern development practices, and the ability to mentor and grow engineering talent.

Key Responsibilities

Provide hands-on leadership by contributing to design, development, and delivery of production-ready software across front-end and back-end systems

Collaborate with product, architecture, and engineering teams to drive iterative development and deliver high-value features

Ensure engineering excellence by promoting standards around reliability, scalability, performance, and modern deployment practices

Plan and coordinate release activities, ensuring clear communication with all stakeholders

Coach and mentor engineers, supporting career development and reinforcing architectural direction

Define team roadmaps, staffing needs, and long-term technical priorities

Champion Agile practices, modern frameworks, and engineering best-in-class processes

Use engineering metrics (cycle time, deployment frequency, etc.) to identify bottlenecks and guide improvements

Build strong relationships with internal and external partners to support delivery goals

Oversee incident response, on-call participation, and technical resolution of production issues

Identify risks, manage dependencies, and set high expectations through example-driven leadership

Required Experience

Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience

3+ years managing software development teams

Hands-on experience with containerized applications and orchestration tools

Experience serving as a technical lead delivering high-quality software

Strong background mentoring engineers and conducting constructive code reviews

Deep understanding of Agile methodologies and ability to champion them across teams

Preferred Experience

Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)

Experience with serverless orchestration or workflow engines

Knowledge of observability platforms and monitoring practices

Experience working with distributed or globally dispersed engineering teams

Knowledge and Skills

Strong engineering foundation with the ability to understand architecture and code-level implementation

Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously

Clear communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences

Strategic thinking with the ability to drive decisions and execute them

Ability to understand upstream/downstream impacts across teams and systems

Comfort challenging existing processes and driving continuous improvement

Adaptability and the ability to lead teams through change

Strong leadership presence with the ability to inspire, mentor, and guide teams

Excellent organizational, analytical, and time-management skills
